I have within the past couple of weeks done a clean install of my PC.  Now I'm getting this message upon start up.  I remember a couple of years ago when I did a clean install that I got the same message and I went into the BIOS and disabled something, but now I can't remember what sequence that was.  And I do not have RAID and don't necessarily want it.

When I go into the BIOS I can't find anything like Promise Controller to disable this message and as I said I can't remember from my previous install where I found the correct entry to disable.  I do have  XP Home and a ASUS P4PE/LAN/1394/SATA-UAY Motherboard with Intel Pentium 4.

Any suggestions most appreciated.

:)

From what I remember, this is a harmless message.  You either don't have a drive plugged into the built-in RAID controller on the motherboard, if it has one, or you don't have a drive plugged into a RAID controller plug-in card, if one is installed.  In either case, it recognizes that the extra BIOS code is therefore not required, and it's just letting you know that it's not doing anything.  I don't think this message is hurting anything at all.

Cheers and Regards.

Thank you, bphlpt.  I was hoping it wouldn't be an issue.  But what is the best way to disable this message?

Thanks.

What is the exact model of the motherboard as a "P4PE" does not look like it has a controller on board.

I'll open the case this evening after work and get the info.  Thanks BV!
