don't have much time to dig into it...but i hear the audigy rox with some 3rd party drivers. in fact, so much so, that creative is trying to squash the guy that is making them.  i found the article at www.dailytech.com  you can probably search for it.  sorry, bud.  just busy.

I am currently using a Sound Blaster X-Fi Fata1ity addition on Vista 64 and I have to say that it is hit and miss as for compatibility.
World of Warcraft (Dx9 of course) works fine (non-5.1)
Hellgate: London, even after several patches, sound 90% of the time does not work at all (DX10). Playing intro movie or in game.
World in Conflict worked fine in DX9 or DX10.
So, with that said, I cannot recommend a card as of now.

I ran the Xtreme gamer for a long time and was really pleased with it. It is my sons rig now as I went the Fatal1ty card like BV mentioned.

The Xtreme gamer or the one below this listing are both kick A@@ cards IMHO....

You can get an awesome card for 75.00 but the SoundBlaster series are reputable and what I have always used.

I DO NOT recommend all their driver crap though, you kinda have to dl to get the proper drivers but they have all this other garbage like an EQ and mixer and some pretty intense stuff that is TOTALLY foreign to me but if you knew how to use it then this is some kewl looking stuff ,hehe..

check these two out.....

Good Luck pard...........

Yeah, Creative really enjoys adding a bunch of junk to their drivers. The "updated" driver on the support web site usually is stripped with separate downloads for updated mixers, etc. HP also comes to mind with loads of crap in their drivers.
