"DHCP client" service hangs computer
« on: April 06, 2008, 03:38:56 PM »
Of this six or so additional barebone settings you disable, all applied well for me except DHCP client. With this disabled, I have no start menu or anything for about 3 minutes. Only task manager seems to work. In it, I see there are only 10 processes running when there should be 30. Untill my start bar comes back 3 minutes later at which time the the missing 20 processes appear in task manager. So I'm staying with barebones config for the moment except DHCP client.

Also, are you using a static IP address on the system where you tried to disable it? If not, yes, it will hang the system. To correct that, you need to apply a static IP address.
