Windows error reporting service
« on: January 28, 2008, 11:28:59 AM »
To Disable it completely cause it can use a lot of resources just doing normal stuff like playing video games or shutting down and booting.

Disable the Windows error reporting service in services.msc, then open the Control Panel > Problem Reports and Solutions > Change Settings > Advanced Settings and tick the off radio box.

This helps speed up your boot and shutdown along with turning off TMM in task schedular and turning off memory dumps.

Cause most of us dont use 85% of windows services, we have n00bs to report errors, or if big enough problem a community to report errors.

Edit: There is also an option for Windows Error reporting service under Task Schedular that runs every 30 days that can be disabled.

Hmm, dunno if it's nessessary also, but on 'Maintenance > Problem Reports and Solutions' (also on Control panel > Performance Information and Tools > left side menu bottom.) there's settings to turn the 'Windows Error reporting' off to all users & current one. Anyhow, just saying usually turn that off before disabling this service and clean it up. Of course that could be done as well afterward from Disk Cleanup I think.

*nod*
Most of this will be in my next services update round, but not all as if the service is disabled, it will not start regardless of what is checked.
Unless...
I like to uncheck things like that to ensure they will not start up with any hidden service modifications from Windows Update.

::) BTW, you can use cleanmgr /sageset:65535 to check the system reports before disk clean them.
