Gaming Through Lan Connections
« on: November 03, 2008, 08:36:44 AM »
Recently I tried using a program called Garena to play Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne with some friends through a Lan Connection. However, I was able to log into Garena and everything went as normal except when I look for games in the LAN area I don't see any. Garena worked for my other friends and I think it might have something to do with the some OS tweaks. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit and made the mods from the default services settings to the "safe" settings.

Also, when I tried to use Hamachi which basically does the same thing and acts as a program to let you play video games with friends though a lan connection that wouldn't work for me either.

Has anyone else had these problems with Windows Vista 32 bit while in "safe" settings?

I think, of the tweaks from the default to the "safe" services settings, the problem could be caused by either:
netlogon
snmpt trap
web client
WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service

All of those are sort of network/internet related services that I had tweaked I think.

Help would be appreciated if anyone else has had this problem and knows exactly how to fix it. Otherwise I guess I will revert all the services settings back to default and see if Garena works then test one at a time by turning one service off at a time to figure out which service I need running to game over a lan connection using this Garena program.
