Discrepencies in Vista Registry Files
« on: January 26, 2009, 10:01:06 AM »
Hi ,

There seems to be differences between what services are shown for Vista on the
website and what is contained in the respective registry files.

Pertains to Vista Business 32-bit. The other files may also be affected and did not
check them.

TrkWks service missing in both Safe and Default regfiles
ProfSvc missing from the SP1 Default regfile
DelayedAutostart for TBS missing in Safe regfile

Distributed Link Tracking Client cannot be changed with a registry file.
Same with several other services:

Okay, thanks. I missed that about Distributed Link Tracking Client. Next time I'll search the FAQ ;D

There are some library files loaded as a service but not handled as a full service. To get the full picture, go to the command prompt and type in:
tasklist /svc
Those tasks not loading a service will have N/A listed under services. Some of those listed as a service will not be shown in the service manager because there are no options available for them (eg. SamSs, slsvc, Spooler).

BTW, There is nothing in the the Additional Information section that indicates that TrkWks cannot be changed with a regfile. The other eight services have this information.

Service Name for Peer Name Resolution Protocol on the webpage and in the description shows PNPPSvc. I beleive it should be PNRSvc.

Actually, it is PNRPsvc and fixed.

And the registry files are also fixed with the corrections outlined above:
ProfSvc missing from the SP1 Default regfile
DelayedAutostart for TBS missing in Safe regfile
