I can respect your choice to disable this service, but I find it frustrating trying to manage the other machines in my house when I can't load the registry on the other machines, particularly my HTPC.  As long as I'm within my home network, this is a very valuable service for remote management, which is why I set it to automatic start on many of my machines.

Not sure how often you feel it is required to even edit the registry directly, let alone remotely, but I have never done so remotely... (after all, they are all in the same house) with 14 computers (down to 8 now,) and probably never will, thus the recommendation for the average user is to disable this service.
On a headless server or a HTPC without a keyboard attached, I understand the need.
