Vista Home Basic 64bit
« on: March 25, 2008, 03:21:57 PM »
Hi.
Having used this site when I had XP I love it.
I built a new system just for using Microsoft FSX.  It is not hooked up to the internet nor will it be.  Only used for FSX. There is no anti-virus installed.
My question is this just to make sure.  Will the vista tweaks work for 64bit systems or are they only for 32bit systems?
As anybody who uses FSX knows, that sim can be hell on a computer, so I'm looking to get all the performance I can from my system.
I did a fresh clean install of vista 64bit and made sure I got all the needed updates before installing FSX.
Even without tweaking, I do get great performance with FSX, but why have services running that I don't need right?
Other than my graphics card which came over clocked, nothing else has been oc'd yet.
My first time doing a computer build, so I'm checking all my ducks and putting them in a row.

This is my hardward config.

ASUS P5N-D nForce 750i SLI Socket 775 mobo
4gigs of OCZ ReaperX PC8000 DDR2 1000MHz Ram
2 Seagate 500GB Hard Drives in a RAID 0 array
BFG GeForce 8800 GTS 512mb factory OC
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Processor
OCZ StealthXStream 600 Walt PS
Cooler Master Sphere CPU Cooling Fan
3 120mm case fans with my Apeavia X-Telstar tower
5.1 surround sound
Saitek x52 pro flight sim system

I'm a FSX junkie, what can I say.  Been hooked since I first got into Flight Sim back in the 90's.
Anyway, thanks to all who read this. ;D
