Windows Vista SP1 Services Registry Files
« on: August 04, 2008, 01:31:17 PM »
Hi

I am sorry if I sound very dim, but regarding the Windows Vista SP1 Services Registry Files (http://www.blackviper.com/WinVista/registry.htm):

I am not sure what these files do. Are they a quick way to alter the services start up options, rather than changing them manually using BV's Services configurations?  If so, what level do they set the services at: Safe? Tweaked? Bare Bones?

Very many thanks.

The files currently on that page are only the default values.
I will post "safe" when I get the chance.

Thanks BV.

I guess, though, it would not be that difficult for me to change the values to "safe", "tweaked", or "bare bones" myself?

You have no idea how much useful it would be to so many thousands and thousands of user. At the very least a quick .reg patch for the "Safe" preset but if possible also one for "Tweaked" as I personnaly think that these are the 2 most common preset that people will want to try. It's also much faster to just start from there then at worse edit 2-3 services instead of doing each of them one by one. You used to make a patch for all preset on WinXP, good old time ;D

Oh well, sorry to have sent you an email exactly about this 10min ago. I should have read the forum first instead of only on the FAQs and looking around the main site.

Correct. But my inbox filled with people applying the "bare bones" configuration without actually reading my guides or knowing what they were actually doing. As such, "default" (to return back to where you started) and "safe" (a real good starting point) will be the only ones available for awhile.
I plan on putting up the XP SP3 "safe" now and Vista "soon".

Wow! Now that's what I would call a "f****** awesome service!"
When you said "soon" in your previous post, I would never have expected to have it online that early. I'm gonna use that "Safe" preset tonight :D
