New windows service ??
« on: September 25, 2007, 11:23:34 PM »
Hey Guys

Since my last windows update or two ago - I went into services to check something out, and came across this little sonovah:

Windows Service Pack installer service...  I actually noticed it causing error in the event log, as It was trying to call up some other security/update service i have disable (cant remember which one now - cant find it again, and its bedtime....)

BlackViper, what do you think of this service?  I have disabled it, and I'm gonna see what happens next time I update, as it states the service is required to "help" updates install after reboot...."help" or "necessary" - not sure which....

Thoughts?

For the most part, I only update when service packs come out. It reduces my headache... by a bunch. As such, I am also mainly using Vista. From the sounds of it, I would personally leave it disabled, but have not tested what may break using this type of setup.
