XP SP2 Config question...
« on: September 24, 2007, 11:19:20 AM »
EDIT: Wow, I'm dumb. Can I get this moved to Windows XP Tech Support?

I recently made a new hardware profile named 'Gamer' and I did the barebone services tweaks and restarted my comp. First off, my comp took longer than usual to 'load my personal settings', which I thought was odd seeing as how I thought these tweaks would make it faster or just automatically log on without me clicking on my name. Secondly, when it finally does load, the only thing I see is my background. I can ctrl+alt+del to the task manager and it has barely anything running but I can't click on anything. Obviously, I'm a gamer so maybe I shouldn't use the barebone selection? I basically just want my comp as fast as possible for my games.

Did you try "Safe" first?
Did you try "Power User" first?

Changing services does not automatically log you on.

Plus this info in my FAQ: http://www.blackviper.com/AskBV/XP20.htm

Creating a hardware profile was the best thing to do to test out bare bones, but I suggest that you start with "Safe" first.
