Windows 7.  At least experiment with it while maintaining WXP handy in case of need.

Windows 7 (x64).  Got me a brand new system....well 2 actually (his & hers) and I loved it when all I did was plug them into the router and they recognized each other immediately including the networked printer.  Then all I had to do was set up which folders I wanted to share.  For this Geritol aged curmudgeon this is like discovering sex all over again.  Makes me a happy camper.

I voted Windows 7. For a desktop OS, Windows in my opinion is the best. No matter how much the Linux or Mac community claims, you can't do everything you can do in Windows (desktop usage). In Linux I often come across bugs in the GUI or things that don't always work right. Macs are nice, they work good, but there isn't anything there for me. They seem restricted heavily on what I can do with them, same reason I won't buy an iPod.

Windows 7 x64.

I still use Linux as much as possible, but most of the stuff I run is only available in Windows. Not a problem since Win7 came out though. I love Win7  :) -- except for its' "problem(s)" with NVidea (and the fans) :(

Well I guess I am one who fights change tooth and nail. I have gotten so used to XP. I tries Vista and hated it. I have spoken to a Microsoft Tech and they assure me that Windows 7 is worth trying. They say it is user friendly like XP but has the bells and ringers of Vista. I was also told that Windows 7 will will with Windows XP programs. I was told by another person that the only way you can run XP programs on the new 7 system you have to have Windows 7 ultimate. How much truth is to this.

Windows 7 will work with most Windows XP software. There is a catch though. Some software that is really old that worked with XP will not work Windows 7. More than likely that software was designed for older Windows operating systems and they still are usable with XP, but not with Vista or Windows 7. This is where XP mode comes in handy in WIndows 7. Xp mode is a feature in the Pro and Ultimate editions of Windows 7 that allows old software to be ran inside of Windows 7 through a virtual environment with Windows XP. XP mode is more a feature for companies, organizations, or groups who use software not compatible with Vista or Windows 7. I personally haven't even had a need for XP mode.

Considering I installed Win 7 Ultimate on a computer that I had tried ALL versions of XP & one version of Vista on with all the same hardware. I'm impressed so far. After using BV's safe teaks it's much faster than any of the other O/S I have had before. It's gonna' take awhile to learn what all it can do & learn the bells, whistles & eye candy but ALL I really have ever cared about was an O/S that was dependable & as FAST as it could be. I think I finally found it. Time will tell. Windows 7 was MY Idea ! LOL.

My OS choice for 2010 is Archlinux.  Am using KDE as a WM since it went modular on this OS.

I'm still using XP 75% of the time and W7 the other 25%.  XP is the OS that I'm used to and it works with everything I have, (ie: hardware/software).
W7 is great and has many advancements over XP but there are still a few software programs that will not work with W7.

Windows 7 x64 Ultimate , hands down. I still keep a drive with XP Pro on it, but 7 is like playing with a new toy. So far it is faster, more reliable and more secure and it will see all my ram. Did the BV safe tweaks and never looked back. There is nothing about Windows 7 not to like..imo
