Scheduled Tasks in Windows 7

How many of the dozens of scheduled tasks can be removed.  I have a DAW that is not on the internet and tweaked barebone services.

And the answer is ? LOL! I'd like to know the answer myself & how to kill them. I was surprised to see all that stuff. I've never used any scheduled tasks. Do you really need any of them ?

Theoretically they all can be disabled. The only downside is it will stop certain things from being automated, like automatic updates of antivirus programs or time synchronization. For a DAW it probably won't matter much, but for normal usage I highly recommend researching each entry before deciding to to disable anything. Something to keep in mind, when you tweak services and disable them, the scheduled tasks that depend on those services won't run anyway.

I am assuming that Win 7 is similar to Vista in this regard. I could not find out what all the scheduled tasks were for, so I simply disabled the Task Scheduler rather than disabling all the scheduled tasks. Vista would not allow me to change the start type of the Schedule service, so it had to be done by setting the registry Start value to 4. There are a few automated functions that do not work with the Task Scheduler disabled (eg. background disk defragger), but nothing that I missed.

Well in services mine at least it's grayed out & no way to change it from automatic ??

Thanks, You did disable the task scheduler?  no issues at all since?   Thanks very much.  Was going to do same and ran into all the above.  Registry is next.  only on place on registry?
