hi all I am new to this forum but hope someone can help, I have a compaqsr1709tower xp home edition .The problems started about a month ago with unstable display ie fine wobbling like double image then I could only view clearly on 800x600 60hz resolution after this problems with powring up andwouldnt shut down ie saving settings and stuck at that point.
I tried system restore /no improvement tried recovery console f10 when loading recovery the display would flash on and off and you only view it for a split second until recovery console loaded
I tried partition based recovery so I did not loose much and it said recovery successful then it went into booting up 1/blue screen loading windows.2/black screen windows xp logos and please wait ... fell off chair about four hours later half asleep still waiting.
then tried doing destructive recovery using my pre checked recovery discs with exactly the same result stalled at please wait black screen
I have tried to access bios screen but the display only shows the info in split second burst I dont know how to pause the display at this point so I can read any messages error/options for boot methods or otherwise please help
before I get comatose trying to view my display at this point cheers sorry for this very long first post just had to get it off my chest in one go.
