Clean Re-Install of an Upgrade?
« on: November 06, 2009, 10:20:32 pm »
Against my better judgment, I did an install-in-place when I upgraded from Vista Home Premium to Win7. No excuse, I was just lazy. For sufficient reasons, (see related post a few minutes from now) I now need to do a clean install.  What I would like to know is -- What is the protocol for doing a clean install of an upgrade? I know that you can do a clean install from the old OS by starting with the old OS running when you put in the disc. The upgrade can then "see" that this is a legitimate upgrade and you can then proceed from there (even doing a re-format I believe -- and hope). But how about a Re-install? Same procedure?

Yes.  Just put the disk in and restart the PC, format the disk, and the select a clean install.  This has been a hot topic in recent years as to legality, but  Microsoft has recently establish that this is legal.  I have the article to prove it should someone object.  Your good to go.

Thanks. Even if you are an oldster, you still learn something new every now and then. This is one of those "learning experiences."  >:(
