Win 7/IE 8
« on: November 03, 2009, 11:12:01 PM »
Ok since I upgraded to Win 7 Home Premium when I open my IE and click on a link that opens a new browser it always says Internet Explorer has stopped working.

Any reasons or thoughts as to why?

Did not do this in Vista 64 for me.

I don't suppose it will let you uninstall IE 8.  You might try going through the "Turn Windows Features On or Off" in the Program Features section.  You should be able to uncheck Internet Explorer 8, restart, and then recheck it.  It's worth a try though I'm not sure Windows 7 will let you.

I'm thinking maybe IE 8 just got corrupted during the upgrade.

IE 8 is included with Windows 7. It is not an upgrade.

I think my problem is the DEP from what I have read. I went into my live support as I was having connection issues with my cox cable connection and it won't let me open into a live chat as it was executing an exacutable which to my understanding is what the DEP prevents.

This was in reference to the upgrade from Vista to Win7.  I was thinking it got messed up in that upgrade.

How about your firewall?  Maybe an over-aggressive Anti-virus or one that doesn't fully work with Win 7 yet?
