Im not sure where to put this thread, as it could be caused by services...software...or whatever. When programs try to delete other .exe's, it fails with permission denied. after that, even "I" can't delete the file, getting messages ranging from this is in use by SYSTEM, needing permissions from SYSTEM to perform this action, or needing permission from the computer's administrator. I'm running ON the administrator account, so permission shouldn't be a problem. This makes programs that update themselves very very hard to do. Sometimes, it seems that putting these programs into XP SP3 compatibility mode, magically allows them to delete other executables no problem. This also causes a problems for visual studio, as it cannot overwrite the old executable on compile, i have to manually delete the file, then recompile it for it to output. I've disabled TONS of services, nothing vital to the operation of the computer (as far as i know)
I've tried for weeks to resolve this, to no avail. Any help or hints, anything, is greatly appreciated.
