No longer able to forward ports... Help PLZ
« on: October 21, 2009, 05:04:54 AM »
While tweaking the services for my first time, I noticed none of my forwarded/open ports were working anymore. So I set all of the services to the "SAFE" settings and still no luck. So then I set them all back to the default settings (for XP Home) and they still don't work. I have a Netgear router, which is where I adjust the port settings mainly, and I also tried disabling the Windows firewall with no luck. I'm running out of possible solutions, so I need a little help with this.

My next step will be to disable the firewall on the router, and in XP, and see if that even works. If that doesn't work then I'm gonna just disconnect the router just to see if that works either.

There where quite a few services that weren't listed on the site and I don't remember what they were originally set to. But I don't think they were ones that would have affected this (stuff like Nero Back-It-Up, and .NET, and Asquared Anti virus) but I'mm willing to list them if need be.

Please lend me a hand here, I've been up ALL night trying to fix this problem and I need to get some sleep. Thanks in advance.

ok, i just disconnected the router and went from the cable modem straight to the computer. I also disabled windows firewall and I still cant get any ports to appear open. I am using www.canyouseeme.org to test the ports being open. Plz, any suggestions would be awesome. I'm going to sleep on it. Thanks again.

Are you using a NAT router and modem? DMZ? Is it set up as a direct bridge? What ports are you looking at being open/listening? Do you have an internet route-able address given to your system?
