Sorry for adding another reply, but I wasn't able to edit my entry above:
What I am looking for is a list of services I can securely turn off without Windows itself and internet stopping to work. When I was using Vista, I was playing around with the services, used some pre-defined list (I think it was from a popular computer magazine) and suddenly found that I cannot get WLAN connections working anymore. I would like to turn off everything calling home, decreasing performance and being possible security leaks.
If someone could help with such list I would really appreciate that help!
Well, the best way is to manually shut down every service one by one ,restart ...
And write down what`s happening...
Than if you are happy with the outcome go to the registry export the confguration for the service you disabled ,put it on a notepad save it......and move on to the next service..(Assuming your OS does start afterwards

and you have not been unlucky enough first time to disable one of the vital services ) If your OS does restart breath deeply light up a ciggie have some coffe and pray to be as lucky secound time around..

There`s only 143 services meaning 143 restarts

(Assuming all it work OK and you do not touch few of them that ARE REALLY VITAL..)
After a lot of work (tones of coffees and about 10 -20 packs of ciggies) you will be the happy possesor of a CUSTOM .reg file that will enable
YOU to close all of the services that
YOU do not need and your OS will probably look somehting like that

Cheers!
