Vista wont save my new program
« on: October 07, 2009, 06:01:56 PM »
I am new to Vista.
Since I have a back-up hard disk, every time I save a m
modification to a file like an excel file for example. After I save the chnages, I go back an open that file and it is the same as it was before. I just switch from XP and had never had a problem doing this, why am I having a problem with saving a modification to a file.
----------------
Windows Vista
Laptop: HP G60
Intel: 4200
3 Gb of ram
Vista 2 upgrade
Thanks

Is the file write protected?

Right Click File -> Properties -> General tab -> bottom of page, ensure "read only" is unchecked.

Thank you for your help. I have done what you said, READ ONLY the mark disappear, but when I open the file again, it is still READ ONLY, what next.

I think I found a solution, not the best, but it seem to work. The files I want to copy I have to open Properties and cancelled READ ONLY and I have to do the same thing on the location where I want to paste and it seems it is working.
Thank again from Montreal, Canada.

Was it previously formatted with FAT32?  That might have been your issue.
