I've posted this to the microsoft newsgroups and no one seems to have an answer there so..
I'm using Vista Basic sp2
Sometimes my System Restore dialog will be missing the area, at and below, the Recommended restore selection. The command buttonsare ok.
Also, when I click 'Next' I'm presented with only about 5 restore point where there I believe should be twice that amount. (MaxSize=20GB).
This occurred the other day and I know it was fine in the other morning 'cause I
created 3 manual restore points one before installing 3 dvd maker type software.
At first I thought it was the shareware I tried but after uninstalling the software and restoring my system back to a prior restore point it was fine.
Today the problem showed it's ugly head again and I haven't installed any new software. It was fine yesterday.
Now a new problem. I tried to revert to a prior restore point but after the system rebooted I got an error from system restore saying it couldn't complete the operation or something like that. I was going to write it down but of course the 4th time I tried it worked.
But it didn't fix the System Restore window being half blank and the lack of restore points.
Is there any service when disabled that might have an effect on the System Restore window??
Currently, using Vista SP2 Service Coinfiguration I have "Tweaked" the system.
Was wondering if anyone else has experienced this anomaly.
Anyway I might avoid this in the future?
Thanks,
James
