Hello everyone,
I've been having a problem with my mvix 760 HD wireless media hub and was hoping someone on this forum could help as mvix tech-support hasn't been very helpful. Rather than type out a whole new note, I've pasted below part of the note I originally sent to mvix tech-support. The media hub has an internal Seagate model st3500 hard drive. I've been trying to diagnose the problem a bit further and noticed the "logical disk manager" services under the services tab of MSconfig both have the status of "stopped", any idea if this could be causing my problems? Is there anything else under MS config that may cause this type of problem if set incorrectly? Thanks in advance for any info!

Part of note to mvix ---------------------------------------------------------------
I disconnected the Mvix 760HD from my AV receiver and hooked it up to my Windows XP SP 3 PC with a USB 2.0 cable and also hooked up the My Book 1 TB USB external hard drive to a USB port. Windows Explorer sees the Mvix unit however when I click on any directories I get an error message "the semaphore timeout period has expired". I'm able to see and access any files in the root directory but always get the semaphore error no matter what subdirectory I try to access. When trying to copy a single file from the Mvix I got an error message stating "cannot copy FILENAME. the path is too deep" and in another case an error that read the file could not be accessed. As a test, I tried to create a new text document as well as a new subdirectory on the Mvix but again I got the same semaphore error.
I made some changes to the 760 HD in disk management (sorry, I don't recall what I changed) and was finally able to access all the directories as well as play the media files. However, now whenever I try to copy any files or directories, Windows Explorer will always hang until I stop it with task manager. I've also tried using Norton Ghost "Copy Disc" feature as well as using the copy command via command prompt but both of those ended up hanging as well. At one point, I was able to drag and drop one subdirectory from the 760 HD to the My Book with Windows Explorer but again it did hang after copying only three of approximately 20 files. That was the only time I could copy any files after trying several different methods several times each.
I also tried using my Vista loaded laptop to do the same operation but had the same results as on the PC.
When I googled the semaphore error message, many posts referred to DHCP server configurations as well as copying large media files wirelessly causing this error. But again, I've got the Mvix connected to my PC via a USB and the NDAS icon in the system tray said that the Mvix was disconnected. Regarding my system configuration, I'm running Windows XP SP 3 and am using the Zone Alarm antivirus/firewall system. When I originally set up the connection for the Mvix unit to my AV receiver , I followed the directions in the manual for wireless connections including installing the NDAS software. My network adapter is a BroadCom NeExtreme 57XX. FWIW, the Mvix is listed as a USB drive in device manager under disk drives. Also, the hard drive in the Mvix is set to master on/slave off.
Please note, I had no problem copying files to and from my original 760 HD, the one that was sent for repair. This is the first time I'm trying to copy files (I'm selling it to upgrade) from this unit so I cannot say if this problem existed when I first received it.
