LAN connection Vista to XP
« on: September 16, 2009, 08:36:05 AM »
I have Vista home primeum sp2, and an XP pro sp3. I can connect to the Vista box and see all the shared folders and files, but when I try to access the XP box from Vista I get a logon screen asking for user name and password.

What have I messed up

This problem has been discussed in depth on this forum with only partial resolution. Network access is probably password protected. The first thing to do make sure that you have the same UserID/Password in the SAM database on both machines. You don't necessarily have to have a desktop on each machine, but the combo has to be in both machines. I don't believe that a blank password will allow access.
