Microsoft Security Essentials
« on: September 10, 2009, 11:27:31 AM »
Is anyone else trying this out?  Any thoughts, experiences, etc.?

For my taste it seems a little too user friendly.  There doesn't seem to be any easy access to logs of past scans.  Doesn't even make it easy to find out when the last scan was...  I haven't really dug into it yet, though.  I did a quick scan last night and had it scheduled for a full scan this morning, but I think my computer slept through it.  But with no obvious way to tell, I'm not sure.

I tested it for awhile...seems pretty basic.  Which I assume is the intention.  I have it on my 6 year olds computer.  As far as free antivirus goes, I think its fine...I'd definitely use it over AVG.

URL for those wondering:

Thank you, BV.  I should have thought to put the link up.  When I went to the MS site, I couldn't download it (the beta), but I was able to get it here:

I'm going to be switching back to avast! for the moment because I'm going to install PC Tools Firewall (free and works on W7 x64) and I want to see how it works together.

PC Tools Firewall can be found here:
