Registry files to change services
« on: August 21, 2009, 11:37:58 AM »
I have used the service configurations many times, and was looking forward to the time saving registry entry that BV offered.  I believe I followed the correct procedures, but after rebooting, I checked services, and none of the changes had been implemented.  I manually changed them, but my question now is??? Should I merge the registry keys for the default services, and would that correct the registry, or do I even need to be concerned about the first merge that I made.

Did you get any errors when merging the file?
Did you do a custom registry file and save it with the .reg extension or leave it as .txt extension?
The default configuration that I have available for download only changes the start key, as such, if you changed the services you want one at a time, the default would "undo" that, but I do not see any reason to apply it if things are working as you expect at this point.

The default does not change anything... it is the "default" that is shipped with XP and, thus, resets them back if you have changed something.

You need to reboot after applying.

What are you expecting to change? That is the first question I should ask.
The registry files only change automatic, manual or disabled... they do not "remove" or uninstall anything.
