Switch Internet and all safe not to run stuff related to internet use "on & off"

I'm using my Vista Home Premium 64 laptop as a mobile DAW (Digital Audio Workstation).  Is it possible to switch on/off Internet ??? only related drivers/devices?  Maybe by setting you two profiles one with one without (I'm reasonably certain this is not doable, these services etc are base services that are either on or off for all uses (profiles)).  DAW uses about every resource, and any drain causes live performance nearly impossible.  P.S., I love this site, what powerful information on here!
