Posting in all CAPS is not directly against the rules, but should be avoided (as most people ignore the threads).

BV EDIT: I take that back... it is against my rules: http://bbs.blackviper.com/index.php?action=rules
I was wondering if I added that in awhile back or not... I guess I did. :)

Please do not SHOUT.

Repair install: http://www.windowsreinstall.com/winxppro/installxpcdrepair/indexfullpage.htm

It says Pro but Home is pretty much done the same way.

Ouch, my ears.  But seriously, press "1" and enter.  This will select the proper installation to work with.  It will then ask you for the administrator password.

....and after the password prompt, type in your password and press enter, or if you don't have a password simply press enter and you'll have the console ready for you to work with!

you dont need to do all that if you just fomating and reinstalling the OS

you can just press enter and then windows will format and install the windows for you

unless you want to run fdisk

the op is not asking about a format and install, but a repair....... via the recovery console....! :)

You don't do a repair install from the recovery console.

the op didn't ask for a "repair install" but a repair, anyway he's been quiet for 2 months so you would assume he's (or she) has worked something out..... :)

My reading of the original posting and the way it was worded about what was seen on the screen led me to the conclusion that a "Repair Install" is what was sought - that's why I answered it the way I did.

After 27+ years in the Air Force maintaining avionics systems on fighter aircraft I 'learned' to read pilots minds when they tried to describe the problems they were having with the aircraft and I was one among many that had to 'fix' what they had a hard time describing. It has carried over to 'reading minds' in many a forum; with a lot of success. ;D

Since they were a active member for 12 minutes, I doubt we will ever know the truth, but I have to figure you are correct in that they worked it out already. :)
