I wanted to stop any unnecessary services that were running on my computer but I am not very computer literate at all, so I decided to use the "safe" configuration.  I restarted my computer when I was finished only to find that it no longer would automatically connect to the internet.  When I click to connect to a wireless network, there are none listed.  When I click "repair" it fixes the problem very quickly and I am connected.  The problem is I do not know which one of the settings on the list caused this to happen.  I just know that I disabled the ones that it said to disable in the "safe" column.  It took me 2 hours to go through all of them, so I'd rather not have to do a system restore if I don't have to.  Can someone please help me figure out which setting I need to re-enable?  And when I do re-enable it should I set it to automatic or manual?

I am using a Gateway laptop with a Marvell TopDog Draft 802.11n Wireless card and am connected to a cable modem via wireless router. Thanks in advance.

Ensure that each of these services listed here are on Automatic and started:

Thanks Charles, this fixed my issue!

I was wondering though, since I know that all 4 of these services were not set to automatic for me to begin with, should I go back and change any of them back to manual (perhaps one at a time) or do I need to keep them all on automatic?

WLAN AutoConfig should stay on automatic.
As for the others, they can probably be on manual.
Depends on your configuration, though, and at the very least, if you need one of those services, it is easy to put back to automatic.

I'm not sure what you mean by my configuration, but I set my services to look exactly like your safe list.  If I set the other 3 to manual, are there any other problems I should look for other than not being able to connect to the internet or is this the only thing those settings are responsible for?  Just trying to figure out how I will know if I need the settings or not. Thank you so much for your help by the way!

yikes!  My computer just notified me that I needed to install an update and it happens to be the vista service pack 2.  I thought that this is what I had, but if it is saying I need to install this update, I'm assuming I was using SP1?

That being said, I configured my services according to the SP2 list. I'm downloading the update right now, but will I need to go through the list all over again?

You should be fine.
Little difference between SP1 and 2.
