I left my "hung" Firefox going and when I shutdown the server, it "stopped". As such, it looks like, yet another change that I did actually has been causing this issue.
For right now, all is well, however, all was well for about 12 or so hours, too. :)
Hang in there, it should be fixed as I backed out the last "change" that I did over the past few days.
I appreciate everyone's patience as I tried to make things better... just to make the site run really badly.
Ya know, I should just leave things alone...
What is the fun in that? :)

On the other hand....Firefox is hanging big time when it is getting data from external sources such as the off-line avatars, etc.
I have no idea why any configuration of mine would hang the browser (I examined the HTTP headers being sent and received and all looked good). Not only that, but seemingly hang the browser attempting to gain an external resource. I did recreate it and all should be good...

Well, as I have said before...."Thank you Ben Franklin."

Thanks for all you do BV.  I know it all frustrating at times, but somehow you always seem to come out on top when battling the internet gremlins.

Just wish I had your knowlege and fortitude.

Now go have a great day.

I think I may have a reason why this is happening.
Things may break for a minute while I test this theory out.

Well whatever you did before "theory testing" seems to have worked.

I'm on line with both IE and Firefox and they are both blazing along just fine now.

Well, I did break things again from my quick testing.
It seems that I am trying to do things with my test domain (related to my up and coming changes with the main website) that is probably not intended. Namely, setting and reading a cookie for a different domain (blackviper.com) then where it is at (test domain) and including some PHP code from the BBS into said test domain.

That particular aspect has been fixed.
We shall see if that was the real issue. :)
Thanks for your support all!

The problem that surfaced yesterday and today brings up a question on page behavior that I have noticed with other forum sites as well. Page links do not seem to function until all external page sources have been satisfied or timed out. Is this a property of forum software, or is it just more noticeable because of the number of foreign sources in forum pages? Or is it a property of PHP? It just seems odd that a Web page should be held hostage because of a foreign reference, especially when it is just an image file. I a not much of a Web page designer, but I have always tried to keep foreign references to a minimum to speed up loading.

For PHP (and as far as I know, all dynamic pages), the content is generated, sent to a buffer (and usually compressed to save bandwidth) and then the buffer dumped before it is sent across the wire. This is due to HTTP response headers needing to be created and sent before the content. Specific headers (such as Content-Length) needs to be determined before anything is sent to the browser.

B.V.
Out of curiosity, I fired up my network analyzer and captured all the packets from loading your index page. It used 16 different ports to get responses from 11 different sites. Hope you find it useful.

It's one that I wrote, and that really is not how the output looks. I just took all the GET requests and isolated the portion you see. It really looks like this (1 packet):

Yes, I'm interested. Part of my "stock in trade" is that I can make things (hardware or software) talk to each other. In recent years, I have been sort of sidetracked, but this is still my first love.
