Can you recommend Vista as a gamers OS?
« on: April 10, 2009, 11:10:32 AM »
My PC ALSO seems a bit infarkted, I see this an opportunity to try a new/er OS AND some gameresq reg tweaks for it.

I was thinking Vista 64 bit, but if it's gonna be a step back for my gaming then thats a negatory Ghost Rider!

Vista is a good gaming OS if you desire to utilize games that support DirectX 10. Otherwise, it does not bring anything else new to the table.
(With the following disclaimer).
You could also benefit with certain systems (greater then 4GB RAM) and 64-bit compiled games... but, few exist.

Ok good, I do have a 64-bit processor and would like to take advantage of it (nothing kinky).

Just a comment expanding on those already put; although Vista, with proper(High) Hardware requirements met, there is a need if your a hardcore gamer to play pre- Dx 10 games so you may want to have a WinXP PC handy, or Dual Boot with Vista, probably not such a great moment to do so with Win 7 just around the corner  ;)
Win 7 will add more options too ..., i.e. the addition of WinXP within a Virtual machine which may in fact make the Windows 7 option better than Vista.
Just a thought, or a couple of questions,  I'm not a gamer  ;D
