Etrans fans for my desktop
«

I have an old P4 that I use to run second accounts for my MMO's or to keep up im's or what not while gaming.
I have a 120mm fan on the exausht like my gaming pc has, I have a vortex under my graphics card (supposed to pull heat from gpu and push it out) and I was thinking of placing another 120mm on the floor of my desktop or something for extra air as it is pre BTX. The orig CPU fan as well.
Was wondering if anyone had suggestions? (It is a gateway so no side mounted fan as some friends have)

I will try to borrow a camera asap I dont have a digital lol yet...
I figured out part of my problem I was cleaning my pc, and powered it on to make sure then fans work and well the power supply fan inside the computer does not spin anymore, still feel air coming out the back end of the supply but inside the desktop it stops so now I have to figure out what kind of supply to get. I might just geek squad it as I work 987 hours a week lol.

Yeah I need to know for sure if there are different shapes and sizes as I dont want to get one that wont fit in my case where my current supply is and since it is out of warranty I can do it myself or what not.

The newer higher wattage power supplies are a little longer in size. I assume that the power supply in the case is an OEM one and rated between 250-350 watts. If you decide to replace it yourself I would consider adding one in the 400-500 watt range. If you get one locally don't buy a cheap one. Here's a nice OCZ 500 watt with free shipping for $60.

Yes, it is the OEM one, my concern is how can I find out about the size and make sure it has all the right connections on it? I have the 250 watt, but I have done a little reading and what I see is that some write that gateway tweaks things just a bit to force you to buy from only them, and that a power supply from somewhere else just wont fit. I don't want to pull it or try to, only to find out what I buy won't fit in there.

Plus this one the fan sticks out like it was added on like an extra case fan the one's I looked at Fry's the fans were built into them so mine if I can exlpain this right is a box, with a case fan bolted on to it the others were just square.

This is what gateway said is the only "upgrade" that will fit in my pc and there is no 400 or 500 w power supply avail for my model computer.

After looking up the part number provided by Gateway the OZC will fit in there just fine. It should have all the connectors you need as well.
Connectors:
(http://www.ocztechnology.com/i/3d.gif)1 x 20+4-pin ATX (http://www.ocztechnology.com/i/3d.gif)1 x 4-pin CPU (http://www.ocztechnology.com/i/3d.gif)1 x 6-pin PCI-E* (http://www.ocztechnology.com/i/3d.gif)2 x SATA (http://www.ocztechnology.com/i/3d.gif)4 x Peripheral (http://www.ocztechnology.com/i/3d.gif)1 x Floppy
Gateway is full of crap, they just you to buy the part from them or one of their partners.

I need a 6pin p10 connection not a pcie, this computer is 7 years old and it doesnt have a 4 pin cpu on it mine is 6pin and it has an agp card but I did find this.
http://www.911forpcs.com/gaposush1.html
It has my ps number on it 6500525 and the one cable that I need the most is this one: One (1) 6 Pin aux connector (P10) that is the only cable that the power supplys dont have one them. I called newegg, and asked about the one you suggested they said no, so did tigerdirect I specifically told them that this was the one cable that gateway says I MUST have inorder for the PS to work, and can see it on my mobo when I look at it, it is not like anything I have seen, I have a 5 pin PCIE card.
I had a buddy from my hotel who is a Network Engineer look at it and he said he agreed. I am not doubting you but I just dont see on the site that this PS your recommended will have that cable.

If the 6pin P10 connector is actually plugged into the motherboard then yes you'll need it and the power supply I recommended will not work.

Well, I found one that was specifically desinged to replace original gateway equipment with a 100% money back if it did not work. They said this PSU will work without the p10 connector so I got it since it was in writing, kept my documentation as I am gonna go to my states AG about my gaming rig I have posted and sure enough this psu works without that p10 connector just fine been 4 days on it.
