List of compatible software...
« on: January 18, 2009, 06:04:10 AM »
Hey, BV.  Would it be possible to sticky this thread?  8)   Everybody can post their non-gaming software experiences, and then have one thread to see the culmination.

I can report that Photoshop CS4 works wonderfully as well as CCleaner, Picasa, WinRAR, and iTunes64bit.

Skype 4.0 Beta 3 works fine with the disclaimer that I hardly use all of its functions (just conference voice).

I really think that atleast 95% or more of the programs that work with Vista today will work without issue in 7. Where people will run into problems will be with drivers or other software that installs a driver to run or relies on system drivers such as antivirus solutions and games.

Here's a partial list of programs I've been using that work just fine:

Alzip
Everest
Adobe Photoshop 7
Winamp
VLC Media Player

Games:
Oblivion
Fate
Fate: Undiscovered Realms
F.E.A.R.

Programs that didn't work:
Alcohol 120
SuperAntiSpyware Pro

I'll check when I get home and see if there's more I can add to the list.

WinRAR causes a Glitch in the Operating System of Win 7 x86 and x64.

The bug is;
In the "Options" in the menu bar, "Settings" link > "Integration" tab > "Shell Integration" box > check the box "Cascade context menus" then it will cause a Desktop Manager Error;
"The Desktop Window Manager has encountered a fatal error (0x803e0002)" "Event ID" #9020
