Gaming on Windows 7
« on: January 14, 2009, 07:26:16 PM »
first, sorry if this is the wrong section to post this.
But I am very curious as to how games are running on W7 vs XP and Vista atm.
I understand its still a beta but i am hearing a lot of people saying this beta is far more stable than other versions of windows?
I am a big gamer, would like to upgrade to the beta, but would like to know more about the gaming experiences of others first hand before I do.
So the big question: Should I keep my XP for gaming or upgrade to W7 to game?

It really depends on the Video card, the chipset of the card and the game being played.

Yeah, World of Warcraft runs fine. As far as benching it, I have not done so and do not plan on it.

It may be my imagination or wishful thinking, but WoW seems to "look sharper" then with XP.

Diablo (one) runs fine in compatibility mode with "256 colors" checked (otherwise, it looks like a rainbow mess) and "run in 640x480" of which it does anyway.

Depending on exit method, it hangs on closing and a task manager kill is required to close it...
But, hey, an 11 year old game "even installing" is impressive as far as I am concerned. Kudos to Blizzard.
Diablo is one of those applications that I throw out to new OS's to see "what is broke."
I figure if it can run... anything can. :)

Next to test is Diablo 2 LOD :)
