Can we have a learners section?
« on: January 02, 2009, 04:00:03 AM »
I try to come here to learn. Most of what's here is over my head and difficult to follow though.

My level is somewhere between "I don't work in tech support" and "my Xbox is connected to my PC."

And sure, of course you don't want the blind to be leading the blind and you don't want to be pestered with questions. A newbie newbie section maybe?  :-\

Each section is for everyone.
New, used or antique.
"Newbies" generally do not ask hard hitting questions, but they want to.
Don't feel bad about posting a question because, in all reality, everyone, including me, was a "newbie" once. :)
Really, though, I have often been asked questions, such as "my computer does not work... what is wrong?"
And I have to start with... "is it plugged in?" and one time I received the answer "NO..." because it was a laptop. :)

Waimea,

Welcome to the best forums on the internet.

I'm sure that BV and others in here will agree with me when I say, "Ask away....no question is a stupid question and we are all learners."

Believe me....I've asked some of what I thought were really stupid, weird questions in the past only to find out that others were having the same problem or wanted to find out the same information.....just afraid to ask.

So....ask away, ask away, ask away all.....but just a hint....please do a search of this site first to see if your question or problem may already be being discussed.  If so, just add your question to the thread and someone (maybe even me) will try to help.

Again, welcome and have a great day.

Bill     ;D

Thank you for the replies and everything else you do.

My worst newbie moment ever was very amusing. I was being supervised by a hardcore geek and my mission was to put together a PC with the parts he had given me. When I was certain it was done I announced there was a mistake - a leftover cable that we didn't need - and proceeded to cast it aside...

"Uhhhh you might want to re-think that. That's the power cable."

No, the only dumb question is the one I asked previously and forgot the answer.  Getting old sucks. :(
