acronis true image problem
« on: December 26, 2008, 01:48:50 PM »
hi. having problems trying to use true image v11 with Vista home premium on a new toshiba laptop. after installing and creating the acronis restore disk, i cant get it to boot past the black screen saying 'acronis loader'. just below that text i get 'fatal error. no boot partion found' message, no acronis front end appears so cant do a complete back up of 'c' drive, which i wanted to do now that i've installed extra programs. any suggestions as to whats wrong please?

TIA

Which disc are you trying to boot? If I remember correctly you have to boot off the Acronis disc, or make a bootable disc with Acronis The actual discs that contain the image you made shouldn't be bootable. When booting from the Acronis disc you can restore the hard drive with the discs that contain the image.

hi. tnx for reply. i am trying to boot from the acronis restore disk but get the message posted above. its as if it is only looking for the boot option associated with the toshiba restore. if i use the disks created with that, i can only restore to the original install and cant create a back up of how the laptop is now, which is not a good choice really. also cant create new restore images with the toshiba option

tnx for your time
