I really think my head is about to explode ...

I've been through this a time or two, but simply don't have the brain left to figure it out - and I need the printer tonight.

After some tweaking in my XP SP3 Services, I am finding the PC and printer not able to 'Communicate' ("Dell Photo AIO Printer 926 - USB Port Communication Not Available").

Anyone care to save me from (potentially) hours of CCO" ("Complete Cranial Overload")?

.....

Well, as usual, I don't seem to be communicating any better than my PC/printer situation.

I am hoping to be able to find which service I've "tweaked" (from Automatic to Manual or Disabled or from Manual to Disabled perhaps) that may be blocking my printer.

There just seem to be so many potential (errant/problematic) combinations when all the Dependencies are considered.

Have I clarified my issue?

Thanks - in advance ...

What is print spooler set to? It should be automatic. Also look to make sure you didn't disable any part of the driver. Dell printers are usually made by Lexmark as well as the drivers. Note that Dell printers are dependant on lexbce print server and once the drivers are installed so is print spooler.

Thank you, I think this ("lexbce") "may" be the problem, as, in an effort to clean things, I believe I deleted something in my Online Armor FW by this name.

The print spooler is set to "Automatic", however I did formerly have a "Lexmark" (branded) printer installed here, but now have the Dell, and had no idea that it could have been made by Lexmark.

So, I suppose I now need to hunt-down that missing piece of my puzzle (??).  Though I am not exactly sure where to begin, at least I have a clue (this ought to keep me busy for awhile) ...

Thanks again ...

Thank you (and no intent to "bump') - I will double-check those services - thanks again ...

~*Final Note*~

Thanks again to all.  I got the printer going, though not exactly sure what was causing the problem (will look into it more later when I have time).

I UN-tweaked the services mentioned by Charles ('BV') that I previously had tweaked (set to either Manual or Disabled), but that in and of itself didn't resolve the issue, so I reinstalled (from the Dell CD), which I suppose loaded the necessary (lexbce?) driver(s), which may have had to be the case before the necessary tweaked service (whichever one it may have been) would "kick-in".

Thanks again to all!
