If I was the student's parents I would be very upset and putting that teacher in her place.
No software is free and spreading that misconception is harmful. These children look up to adults for guidance and discipline.
I along with many others tried Linux during college and I assure you, the claims you make are grossly over-stated and hinge on falsehoods.
This is a world where Windows runs on virtually every computer and putting on a carnival show for an operating system is not helping these children at all.
Spawn, I disagree. We really don't know enough about the situation. We don't know what are the legal rights at this particular school. We don't know what agreements parents have with the school.Having been in and have had my children in schools in 3 continents,I've found that rights vary widely from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. Some schools are very strict, some very lax.I've worked where I was not allowed to bring cds, dvds, mem sticks, and the liketo the work place. I've seen such items being taken from their ownerson threat of losing their jobs. Perfectly legal there, since it was their work agreement. Maybe not legal somewhere else.Period.

At this point, I am not sure what you are doing is legal.
It is far better to be ignorant than to be stupid.
