Print spooler not working dependancies missing ..help please
« on: October 31, 2008, 07:52:12 PM »
Help please...
I seem to have lost totally my RCP  facility which control many services including the print spooler
When I try to print I see no printer I can not add a printer in set up

If I use services.msc  go to  print spooler and try to start it I get not available and when I check on dependancies I see a yellow flag on Remote control procedure. I find that the RPC  its not working at all tho it is started but I can change it its greyed out.

If I use regedit and seek the legacy functions I can not find them
I do not have lexbce on my system that I can find

I am out of my depth?

could it be a virus I have NOD32 current and nothing showing I have malaware and nothing there

help please

I would try downloading the default services registry file from Black Viper's website and merging that. Then reboot. Also make sure you didn't accidentally disable a printer driver from starting up. The default service files can be found here. http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/registry.htm

Hi thanks for the quick reply ..I am not sure which file you mean ..on that page I do not see any single file to download or perhaps its the safe start 86 zip file ..can you guide me relating to that page on the registry problems and which file I merge....by merge do you mean simply click on the reg extension and add to registry..sorry I am a bit thick

TIA

Depending on the version of XP you have download one of the following. Then extract it from the zip file and double click it to merge it. Then reboot.

Default Windows XP Service Pack 3 Services Start Key:

    * Download the XP Home File: Download here
      Default XP Home SP3 Start v3.00.zip ~ Size - 918 bytes ~ Version 3.00 ~ June 17, 2008

    * Download the XP Media Center Edition 2005 File: Download here
      Default XP MCE 2005 SP3 Start v3.00.zip ~ Size - 960 bytes ~ Version 3.00 ~ June 17, 2008

    * Download the XP Pro File: Download here
      Default XP Pro SP3 Start v3.00.zip ~ Size - 928 bytes ~ Version 3.00 ~ June 17, 2008

    * Download the XP Tablet PC 2005 File: Download here
      Default XP Tablet PC 2005 SP3 Start v3.00.zip ~ Size - 952 bytes ~ Version 3.00 ~ June 17, 2008

BV EDIT: Changed direct download links.
