Services stop or disable after reboot
« on: October 27, 2008, 08:45:20 PM »

Thanks BV for the default xp pro sp3 v300.zip, I am now able to set services on.
my problem is if I don't use the zip file and reboot, almost all services stop or disabled. xp pro, fat32, I ran 3 anti virus, trojan remover, 4 spyware programs nothing has fixed the problem. ran dskchk, sfc /scannow no help.

Any help would be appreciated! :-[

What services are stopped or disabled that should be running? Are they retaining their start setting in the service setting? (Automatic, Manual, or Disabled)

Wow, that's not many services. From your first post, I take it that you used one of BV's files to revert all service settings to default....def a good start.

When you go into msconfig, is it set there for Normal, Selective, or Diagnostic startup? Ensure that it's set to Normal.

Other than that, I'm at a loss right now as to what else you can check or give a try.
