Copying files stop when closing out the folder it's going to?

When dragging files to another drive -- be it over a network or locally -- the file transfer window abruptly QUITS and ends my transfer if I close out the window containing the folder that it's being transferred to. Is there some kind of service or registry tweak that I can make things return to normal? This is very frustrating and I'm not sure why it's happening.

Not sure what could be causing that. I'm able to transfer files and close out of the folders where it is coming from and going to.
From what you wrote, I take it that everything works fine if you leave the destination folder open. Is that correct?
