Windows office 2007 in vista question
« on: August 01, 2008, 01:05:39 PM »
How do I uninstall a 60 day trial of Windows office 2007 in Vista Home Premium?
I tried add/remove no go.
I don't want to have to pay for a program I won't use and download over 240mb of updates for it.
Thanks.
Bill

Why was it a no go?  In Add/Remove programs it should be there...it won't say trial version.  If you still say it isn't there, have you went to start, all programs, and look for Office to see if there is an uninstall selection?

I'm sorry, I am not understanding.  What do you mean "Updates" are showing 240MB for Office?  When you say you removed Office from two places, what two places and how did you remove it?

When I go to updates for Vista it shows 240mbs of updates for office but as I said I removed office in add/remove.
Office doesn't show up on my start menu either.
It's got me baffled.

No I haven't. Where we live only has the lowest speed (128kbs) DSL so it would take a long time.
But the question is how do I get rid of office or at least hide the updates.

I don't have Vista, but I assume it works the same way XP does.  When you go to Windows Update, and it the shows you the updates it thinks you need for Office, if you click details, I think you should have the option to "don't show this update again" or something like that, I'm doing this from memory.  Now why it thinks you need the updates when you say you uninstalled Office, THAT's the question.  How did you uninstall it?
Oh it was listed in two places and I removed them.
What does this  mean?

Cheers and Regards.

Sometimes Windows Updates shows updates for things you don't have.  Every once in awhile it will show an update for Office 2003 for me...I don't have Office 2003.  As bphlpt said, just hide the update if it's bothering you.  It works the same in Vista as in XP.  As far as why Windows Updates shows updates for things you don't have, I cannot answer.

I thought of that too but see no place to hide the updates.

When you go to the Microsoft Updates web page, click custom, not express.  Then when the list of available updates appears uncheck the box of the update you don't want, then click the little "+" next to the check box to show the description of the update, then click the little box at the bottom of the description that says "Don't show this update again".  That's it.

Cheers and Regards.

It's different in vista then XP.
The update page is in the computer itself.

I thought of that too but see no place to hide the updates.

Start, All Programs, Windows Updates.  When the windows pops up do you see the Office Updates already?  If yes, right-click on those updates and it will give you the option to hide them.  If they don't show, select check for updates.  Once they appear, then right-click on them and select hide.
